a new dry mineral processing base for lithium mica was built in Pilbara, Western Australia. The local area suffers severe water shortage which makes wet magnetic separation impossible. Traditional permanent magnetic equipment cannot remove associated weak magnetic hematite, resulting in low Li₂O grade of lithium concentrate that fails to meet supply standards for overseas battery material factories.

Air-cooled dry powder electromagnetic separators were fully deployed on the whole dry grinding production line. The variable-frequency uniform feeding system spreads powder into a single flat layer, and the adjustable gradient strong magnetic field separates iron-bearing gangue. The whole process requires no wastewater or drying procedures, and the fully sealed dust removal structure fits the dry and windy mining area environment.

After operation, the Li₂O grade of lithium concentrate rose from 2.7% to 4.1%, and iron impurities dropped below 0.1%. Each unit can process 950 tons of dry ore per day, with impurity removal efficiency 61% higher than traditional dry separation equipment. The mine cuts annual expenditure on wet water treatment by over 260,000 Australian Dollars.
